Nexus 7 7 inch recommended

The Nexus 7 7 inch 2nd gen is often recommended for the P2V+ controller but I read somewhere 6.75 inch is max for the clamp. I am looking to buy a Nexus 7 unsuccessfully and wondered is there a bigger clamp that will fit on the controller?
