Newbie A Little Nervous

First flight was yesterday. I was having fun and freaked out at the same time. I kept thinking it was going to fly away. I actually lost signal twice. I didn't take it above 100 feet and it was about 300 feet away. I got a signal again on one, and the other time it started to return to home and picked up a signal again. Is there a good way to position the transmitter or antenna?

i flew mine-a 1.1.1 phantom-for the first time on Christmas day-no problems,this thing is awesome!keep antenna straight up.

Have you confirmed your antenna orientation and extender orientation per the instructions? Additionally, are you I FCC mode?

I wasn't in FCC mode. Rookie mistake

Have to ask..what's "FCC Mode"?

It gives you more range, like 500 meters in stead of 30 meters. There's a video on the DJI website about the controller that explains what it is and how to adjust your controller for it.
