I just got my first GoPro. It's a Hero 3+ Black Edition. I will be using video from my FC40 for no particular purpose other than flying around in the country. Can someone tell me some setting starting points?

do you at least understand what the settings are? for example
FPS - frames per second higher number = smoother video
FOV - field of view. higher fov = more curve / fisheye effect on video

so I used the GoPro app via wifi (which I never fly with the wifi on, but on the ground to change settings sure) to set the default power-up state to be video... as opposed to stills or timelapse.

I typically run in 1080p so that I can have Medium FOV (minimal curve) and 60fps because imo the movement looks really smooth in the recordings, better than the higher resolutions and lower fps.

2.7k I think also has a medium fov, granted it's a lower framerate but it still looks fine. I never run 4k because while the image quality is great, the super low framerate (again imo) yields jerky video when you're flying around in a Phantom.

Thanks. Yes I understand the terminology. Also found something on YouTube that confirms what you stated.

Thanks again.
