Looks like there is a new smart battery hack from banggood, with this smart battery adapter you can use your own standard lipos...

Seems interesting... Lets see if works as expected.

I'm sure it's a pos just like the battery's they just recalled.

Lets see, i dont have it, but it might work, we dont know... If it works it could change all the DJI Lipo market...

if anyone tries it, do let us know. the DJI lipos are wayyyy to expensive - like 3-4-5 times the price of the normal lipo. If the intelligent battery pack is so smart, maybe we can get around it by using the same specs lipo; same MAh, discharge rate etc.

i know this is old post but has anyone tried this out yet?

Doubt you'll be able to match the battery capacity ( i.e. flight time) by using separate LiPos.

actually you can.!
this battery has the same capacity to weight ratio as dji battery http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-5-Days-to...Control_Parts_Accessories&hash=item338ecc892c

also by replacing flight controller with standard naza m v2 you can ditch the "smart" part of the battery and use any lipo which according to some is safer as theres less parts that can fail..

Have you fitted one in a P2 compartment with this 'adapter'?

I didn't but people from rcgroups forums were experimenting with different batteries.
Walkera QR X350 Pro battery has the same size as DJI battery wihout the plastic casing (probably same lipo cells)

Is this documented or are people just doing paper analysis? A lot of lipos are "optimistically" rated or just pure lies.

Personally, I would be more interested in putting a more powerful battery in there to get longer flight times. I would pay $250 to get 30 minutes flight in a heartbeat.

Also, can you link to rcgroups thread...

Is there any more danger from grouping separate lipo batteries instead of the DJI one? Like extra heat that could lead to failure?

Walkera QR X350 Pro battery is rated at 10C which is quite low but I can't find any details about DJI smart battery.
