Well in your case you have more antenna/range than I do. So you are not likely to hit RTH as easily as I am.

I always fly back under my own control after hitting by RTH as soon as I can get control back. Mainly because RTH only flies at about 15mph and sometimes that just doesn't cut it.

Sometimes I wish they'd release a "pro firmware" version that would have all those parameters user programmable... RTH speed and height would be nice selectable features... and "camera tilt speed" would be another good one :ugeek:

Assistant version 3.0 goes to firmware 3.04 not 3.0

Question for you guys. For long range FPV I use a 14 dBi TP-link panel which works great. With an unmodified P2V+ I was getting solid 640x480@15 FPV to about 9500' and some video (stills really!) and telemetry out to just under 12,000'. Control is also 14 dBi and extends further than this.

Then my order of RG178 pigtails came in and I replaced both in the repeater and the one in the TX. I've only done one flight and only flew to 10,800' but the FPV was absolutely solid, no gliches or hesitations at all in any orientation. It was amazing. Do you think there is some attenuation of the signal using normal cheapo pigtails? It was a different day, slightly different flight path etc, so not everything else was constant. But the antenna setup was the same: the 14 dBi TPlink plus a 9 dBi FPVLR little one.

Here's a video with FPV video capture overlayed - skip to about 2:00 (it's sped up 2x). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=laqJUOsNCZo

Then today I received a 19 dBi itelite 2.4 and a 19 dBi 5.8 antenna. Once I get these hooked up - maybe 3 miles?

Definitely.... better quality pigtails that are showing less cable loss and presenting the proper ohm load to the tx/rx can make or break an otherwise perfect setup ... and then routing them properly with no hard kinks or bends ... tightening everything proper ... and making sure u.fl connect is solid and hot glued or siliconed to keep from wiggling loose will ensure a good solid foundation for your outboard setup

Good choices... you will be astounded with the range you are about to get with all this :ugeek:

The buddy I fly with (mede8er) just got 3.1miles with a 16dBi 2.4GHz setup so be ready for some insanity

Thanks! I ordered the male SMA to male RP-SMA cables today for the iTelite antennas.

What do you think of this setup in the repeater? It's using 4" RG178. I will get some hot glue and add a dab for safety but this seems to work well so far (only 4 flights though). Could go down to 3" maybe.
