New Lipo battery - how long to charge it

How long should it take to charge a new battery the first time?

It's been flashing alternating red/green (CV) for almost two hours. Everything I've read says it should charge in an hour...

When should I give up and call it a bad battery?

It's not balancing. A better charger would allow you to see the low cell or cells that aren't fully charging.
One of my stock phantom batteries was like that also. Finally didn't bother with it finishing the balance (it as lots of charge, just not every cell at 4.2 volts). Fly with it a few times , it may straighten itself out and balance. Or return to supplier.

I ordered 3 oem 2200 ma batteries for my Phantom 1. One of the batteries acted strange while charging. One cell made the charger flash red green for a long while. It eventually charged ok. Took longer than the others. Someone said the charger was in a charge discharge mode trying to balance it out. It flys fine.

Yep, that perfectly described what happened last night. Flies fine today...
