I'll just bet we see something in 5 years or less. Consider the possibilities for the electric car makers like Tesla. It would certainly be worth the investment for them to get up to 5x the range and 10,000 charge cycles. I'd bet other traditional IC auto and motorcycle manufacturers would have their eye on this as well. Companies like Ford, Chevy, Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki and even Harley. They all have the R&D budget to play around with something like this, not to mention some of the high tech schools like MIT or Cal Tech.
