Are you mounting the ESC's on the arms? You may find it's easier to mount the arms before soldering the ESC leads, or at least feed them through the holes in the root of the arm first.

And if it's Aimdroix arms, it's time to unsolder :p

These are just stock black 450/550 arms.

It is getting there.

I am getting ready for its first flight. It came in weighing 820 grams without a battery. 1184 grams with a 5100 3S 35C battery.

Jim, let it not be said that you do not work fast :) Best of luck with the test flight!

1200g with the 1038 props should give you 18-20 minutes with the 5100mah.

That's what I guessed, and it looks like he (they?) could even get away with a 6600mAh in that config.

Sure, the props shouldn't overlap the frame at all, so you could easily run 10k+mah (I paralleled my 5200s and 5400s on mine) or even larger if you put a big battery on its side. Weight wise though, that's probably not the best thing for that config :D

lol I was trying to keep it to under 1300g, mr big dreamer :D

Fine, if you want to be all plebeian about it ;)

Wait, wasn't there some guy talking about his build on this thread? I forgot...

Once I get my mind set and a Tanqueray and Tonic I can get stuff done! I have a very slow upload speed and a couple of videos are on their way to Vimeo right now. It flew great, I will have to adjust some gains a bit but I was comfortable with it. I am flying it close to the ground in GPS mode in close quarters where I live. The winds are a bit squarely coming thru all the little nooks and crannies between the trailer home here. I had about 14 minutes on it with 28% left when I landed.

Videos to follow.

With 2 of my 3S 5100 35C it weighs 1546g, with my 1 4s 6600 35C it weighs 1545g.

I got board and took the Helistorm landing gear off of my 550 and put it on my 450. It flew well, I could not feel much of a difference with the added weight.

I finished the LED installation today. I went with all white. I can always change it. I will have red and green strobes for orientation.
