new dji quad?

I get that you want to defend their integrity. In your position, rightly so.
I was just providing what is a more logical explanation.
My "position" has nothing to do with it.
FYI ... I have nothing to do with DJI except for having bought and flown some of their products.

I'm more interested in the thermal camera the guy in the launch videos shows. I can't find any info on that accessory. That is a big want for the Fire and Search and Rescue crowd.

My bad, I always figured a product specific forum had direct connection to the company.

Thanks for the information, & reply.

Obstacle avoidance.
Just a few months ago many here argued that Amazon's delivery drones were nothing more than a publicity stunt because obstacle avoidance was still years away!
Can't imagine what technology we will see in the coming years. Wise that this drone and the new 3DR Solo both offer expansion capabilities. Seems to be the way of the future.

Actually, obstacle avoidance is nothing new in the Arduino community. What you see on the guidance system is called LiDar and they have been used on robots to avoid obstacles for a long time http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lidar.

I wonder why they called it the matrice...
There is another quad from another manufacturer with a similar name.
They trying to confuse the consumer?
