Hello everyone, I am new to this site and a new owner. I flew my phantom the other day and it was a blast. I went to fly it today and it's not starting up. I've got 2 solid red lights and the gimbal is acting like it's on drugs. I didn't crash the phantom or anything so I'm confused as to why it's acting like this. I'm gonna start reading all the relevant threads but was wondering if anyone can give this noob some assistance? Thanks.

This happened to me and I had forgotten to remove the lens cap and gimbal lock. Probably not your case though.

Many of us are newbies to the Phantom. I got my first one only four months ago. That was the Phantom 2 with GoPro 3. I produce a weekly sportfishing program for FOX Sports West. So 99% of my flying is over water. I was very careful with it and learned to fly very well before I ventured onto the ocean or a lake with it. But last week I lost it in a lake due to battery power. My fault; no one elses. I was trying to get it back home with less than 20% power. Big mistake. It's now on the bottom.... Oh well, life goes on.

So I just got my hands on the new Vision 2+. Love it! I was going to upgrade anyway, but it would have been nice to been on my terms.

Let us know how you made out with yours.

Why do you like your vision + more? I thought a p2 with gimbal and go pro would better suit your needs shooting for tv. Isn't the go pro a way better camera then vision +?

I thought so too until a colleague of mine got the V2+. We cannot see a noticeable difference in the two after editing and sending the final product on digital HD to FOX. The fact that I have the smart phone right in front of me attached to the radio and with the added controls makes much more sense to us than with the GoPro, monitor and tripod.

I fly my Phantom from a boat quite often where there is no room for the tripod. Many times I have to have someone hold the monitor while I view it and control the drone.

Also, in the Naza M mode, I can switch to fail safe without having to turn the radio off. Home lock is great also. And I can regain control at anytime after the drone returns close to me then land it right into hands on the boat. Works very well. And the whole thing is actually less expensive than the Phantom with GoPro, transmitter which has to be added and monitor.

The V2+ camera is great.

Hey guys, I hooked up the phantom to the computer and ran a diagnostic test. What I got from it was that I was an idiot. The battery wasn't pushed in all the way. The alert said it wasn't a dji battery. I'm so glad it was a minor issue bc I hate driving down to the OC from LA. Back to flying, thanks for the feedback!

Hey let me tell you... don't feel that way. I have been a professional videographer for 30 years and television producer for FOX for the last 12. And this Phantom thing gets me baffled much of the time. It's live and learn/trial and error with me. I even dumped my first Phantom 2 into a lake two weeks ago. Thus the main reason for the Vision 2+. So go get em !!!

But I can tell you that I am fascinated with the enhancements I am now able to get with the Phantom. It is really a game changers in the production world. Go to http://www.anglerchronicles.com if you would like to see some of these shots in our shows. In fact, here are a couple of shows with the Phantom shots included:

I can tell you it is an adrenaline rush flying/shooting over water.

I will take a look at the videos, thanks for sharing. Where in la are you located? Maybe we can go flying together.

Moved to P2 forum.

What does that mean?

OP asked a P2-specific troubleshooting question, which is more proper for the Phantom 2 subforum rather than General Discussion. We're focusing on keeping the forums well-organized moving forward, so this thread has been moved to the correct forum :)
