Need help, Go Pro is not working right

With the tape trick and a different sd card, I am getting better results. Managed to get about 200 photos before the camera crashed.
And got about 4.5 minutes of video on another flight before it froze up.

First off the photo of the interference board that you just posted is correct and the photo you posted on page 1 of this thread is was incorrect. That was my error. I have used that board mounted inside the P2 and it correct when you had it mounted to the outside. Of I removed it as it was creating or more noise on FPV when in flight.
After all the problems you have gone through I would try a smaller sd card from a different manufacture to see if ti does or doesn't resolve the problem. Myself I shoot video only as photos have no monetary value in the stock media industry these days.

Ohh Oh, It may be freaking nutty, but Dude, I'm assuming here, you are way the heck up there near the "magnetic North Pole", Could there be any connection?
I highly doubt DJI or anyone else has tested WTF is going to occur there.

am willing to bet it is your card. The GP is picky, it is a known issue if it is not a fast enough card it will stop recording. I use SanDisk Extremes with good results as they keep up. The Lexar 633X is also a good card to use. Check the GP site for recommended cards. The Extreme and the Lexar are two of them. Don't waste money on cheap cards and don't buy them from Ebay as the fake cards are rampant there. I usually buy from Amazon.

Thanks, I am using a known working card from a buddies 3+ and getting better results but I'm using the tape trick. And the camera still crashes.
So, anyone know what travels through those 8 wires in the cable?
Plug them backwards or forwards into the interference board and everything works the same?
Its just that that cable eventually runs to the camera.

What's the temp there? When you go from inside to out, do things develop the "condensation problem"?

Never thought about that. I was flying around at -20F
I tried it once, and it did crash, but that might have been the sd card acting up.
I'll try all these suggestions today. It's a rare nice day up here.
First, I think that I'll fix the wiring on the interference board as it is connected backwards. Might just try it too, without the board.

Sounds to me like premature battery failure due to those temperatures (also consider even lower temps higher up).
I can't say for sure because I'm not sure how to replicate battery failure or disconnection when filming, but this would explain your positive bench test and your need to charge the battery after that one failure.
It would also explain why the camera works until filming, because filming will draw the most current and after a bit the freezing battery gives up. You might be able to fly with FPV but without recording based on this theory.

I've flown quite a bit at +5 F and the GoPro 3+ Black didn't seem to be affected. The camera wasn't plugged into the FC40 either.

Interestingly, it's hard to find info on the lowest functional temps and GoPro is very vague about it, but -15F (ca -25C) seems to be where they bottom out, OP stated -20F.
Either way, the lower the temperature, the worse the discharge rate (ability to supply current) and that is what could cause the GoPro to shut down. Of course when it shuts down immediately, the video file will be corrupt.

It not recommended to remove the battery from the GP if it is mounted to a gimbal. Gimbals are balanced and if you throw it off the motors can fail prematurely.
