Hi folks,

I'm new here. It's my first drone P2V+. I would like to know: My rear right motor is dead and I would like to replace it. What is the part number or the specs for that kind of motor? I looked on eBay but there is so much different motor I don't know which one is the good one.

My second question is: My drone didn't come with any propeller so what kind of propeller is the good one for my P2V+? Again, on ebay there is so much different propeller to choose from I don't know which one to take.

And is there a DIY section here?

Let me know
thank you

Welcome to the forum. What version phantom do you have? V3 vision + have 2312 motors & 9450 props. Are you sure it is not a bad ESC or broken wire? Did you buy it used?

Re: My rear motor is dead*What part number I need to replace

Hi,
Thanks for the fast reply. I did buy it used yes. how can I know it's version 3.0? My 3 other motors works properly so I was guessing the problem was the motor. I can show you some picture of the drone itself if i can help you. Let me know
thank you

Hello welcome on the forum Frank!

Helipal is a good place to find spare parts for your P2V+.
http://www.helipal.com/multi-rotors_spa ... -plus.html

For the props just go for some original P2 props (9443 ou 9450 original from dji)
http://www.helipal.com/phantom2-vision- ... w-ccw.html

For the motors. If you have the last P2V+ version (V3) then you have to look for this (CW or CCW is for the prop threat)
http://www.helipal.com/djip2r-12-dji-23 ... or-cw.html

If you have an older version then go for these
http://www.helipal.com/phantom2-vision- ... or-cw.html

Just remember that on your P2V + you have 2 CW and 2 CCW motors! I would suggest you buy at least one of each!

Have fun with your Phantom!

Re: My rear motor is dead*What part number I need to replace

Wow thank you very much for your help. How can I know if it's version V3.0 or V2.0?
Let me know
Thanks

Re: My rear motor is dead*What part number I need to replace

You have a P2V+ V3 if the compass on the leg is white. If the compass is grey then it's a V2...

The V3 transmitter has a dial on the side and battery level indicator. V2 transmitter hasn't.

Add a picture of your P2V+ and I will tell you for sure!

Cheers!

Re: My rear motor is dead*What part number I need to replace

thanks, I do have a V2. The compass on the leg is grey. So what exact motor and propeller do I need then?
Thank you

Re: My rear motor is dead*What part number I need to replace

Frank, make sure you use a 2212 motor but you can use 9443 or 9450 props. And don't be tempted to buy cheap imitation DJI props, make sure they are genuine original DJI. They are usually about $30 for two pairs, you might find some for a little less. If they are much less than that then they are probably fakes and could cause you to crash your Phantom.

If the compass is covered with a plastic shield, you have V3.

Also on the bottom of quad where the battery is installed you have a serial # . After the end of the SN, if version 3, it will have V3 right after SN.
If other 3 motors spin, check ESC as the V3's are known to have problems with them.

Lol , while typing, I see some others commented. Glad you got figured out what you have. I would still also look at ESC as they are delicate & inexpensive to replace.
Let us know how it works out & again Welcome to the forum.

Re: My rear motor is dead*What part number I need to replace

Ok so....

If looking the Phantom from the front, the dead motor is the
  • rear right then it's the M3 which has a CW prop treat
rear left then it's the M4 which has a CCW prop treat

CW motor: http://www.helipal.com/phantom2-vision- ... or-cw.html
On this motor comes a CW Prop (grey nut)
CCW motor: http://www.helipal.com/phantom2-vision- ... r-ccw.html
On this motor come a CCW prop (black nut)

And for the prop take 2 sets of these:

Hope it helps!

Re: My rear motor is dead*What part number I need to replace

Awesome, I will definitely buy those motors but before how can I test if it's the ESC the problem and not the motor?

Also, I was looking for a GoPro mount, since I do not have the camera with my P2V+. I find these cheap mount: Does it worth it or not?

When/how did the motor stop working? Crash, tip-over, etc. or was it bought used?
Does it spin freely (some cog-ing is normal) and absent any visible damage when compared to the other three?

Has the quad ever had prop guards on?
Motors can be damaged by using the wrong screws when removing them. This can usually be seen with the motors removed and looking through the mounting hole to the coils.

Having said that, statistically I would guess it's more likely the ESC due to their known frailties.

Do you have a DMM or Ohm meter?
You'll need to remove the 3 motor wires and test them for continuity. They should all read similar, low resistances.

Any pair that read much lower or higher than the other two is often an indicator of damage.

Awesome, I will check this out and let you know in the next couple of days.
Thank you again folks!

Re: My rear motor is dead*What part number I need to replace

I'd just replace both. Cheap enough.

Frank, regarding your camera, I would recommend using stock Vision Plus camera and gimbal. Even though it's quite fragile, its awesome to have telemetry and image in your phone. That's what Vision Plus is for, otherwise you would be misusing WiFi module on your Phantom and Range Extender on your controller.

Stock gimbal is plug and play, easy to install. GoPro mount won't give you telemetry info with WiFi, and when not using stabilizer the image gets shaky as hell. If you're looking forward to use GoPro, you should buy a modified gimbal that will make your Phantom think it's using stock. (it's not possible to change stock gimbal to H3-3D without mod)

Hope this helped a bit.

Re: My rear motor is dead*What part number I need to replace

Thank you for this information. I would like to use Gopro mount so which one I should buy? Do you have any website i can buy it from.

Re: My rear motor is dead*What part number I need to replace

By the time you get a gimbal , motor . Esc or both , and a gopro which doesn't have fpv. You might as well get a new or good used pv2+.

Brand new Vision Plus comes with built-in flight camera and WiFi, which gets you real-time video feed and telemetry in your smartphone. It also comes with a WiFi Range Extender that will give this downlink to you for up to 700m (should be attached to your controller, see image below).

If you want stabilized video footage, you can't really use GoPro on Phantom with WiFi flight info, unless you use Dronexpert mod which fakes GoPro (Phantom thinks it's stock gimbal): http://dronexpert.nl/product/pre-order- ... -2-vision/

But if you just want your GoPro to be attached to Phantom and you don't mind shaky footage, you can get the incredibly cheap original DJI mount: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1 ... nting.html

Any other question let me know
Guido
