I'm confused. If DJI won't repair it under warranty they will usually at least tell of you a price to repair it. I suspect if its an ESC that its the cost of the main board plus labor. I'd think this would be the cheapest way to repair the Phantom since they already have it and far less then the price of a new Phantom.

could you remove the main board and just send that. like others have said a dead main board is almost worthless .

another option is when he sends it back he could send it as a gift. assuming your tax system is like ours .
