This talk has been around for awhile. If prop guards are worth it or not. For me, it saved my P2V+ already once so I think it's worth it ^_^
One of the reasons for the discussion is how it creates turbulence.

Then I was thinking "what if I cut the middle spoke out?" Then I looked at the prop guard & I started wondering if just cutting the middle spoke will make any difference.
    What do you all think?

I don't think the benefit exceeds the risk, but that is just me. I have the guards... In the box. After learning more about vortex ring state I never installed them. I don't think it is wise to compromise the performance or safety of an aircraft by installing something that has limited benefit. It's pretty easy to avoid obstacles. It's not easy, however, to recover from a roll or VRS with insufficient altitude.

    Re: Modding my Prop guard

The best mod for the prop guards is taking them off the bird and putting them in the recycle bin.
