Mini 4 with head tracking over USB hub

I have read that head tracking via the Avegant Glyph is possible along side a tablet or phone when using a small,un-powered usb hub to give an extra port at the RC.

It was mentioned that this may only work with Android devices. Is that true? I am considering an iPad Mini 4.
