Meaning of lights on the H3-3D Gimbal

Greetings,

There has been an ongoing discussion of the problems with the H3-3D gimbal after updating.
A sometime fix has to do with bridging across two contacts at power-up and getting the red and green/yellow lights to go on.

QUESTIONS:
(1) What do the lights actually mean?? I can find no reference in any of the JMI manuals on this.
(2) What happens if I used to have a red light and now all I have is a green light?
