Max elevation of P4 when flying off cliff

Hi all. I am taking my P4 to Mexico and will likely fly it off a cliff. What will happen if I fly it off a cliff that is 500 feet about the ocean? Does the max altitude measure from my controller or the ocean? If from the ocean how would i ever get it back to myself if I am 500 fee about the ocean? Thanks all!!

Does the max altitude measure from my controller or the ocean?

It measures from the ground where the Phantom took off. When you fly over the cliff, the altitude will not change.
