Main board replacement

Hi guys. First time flyer here. My Quadcopter gimbal went limp as well as the gimbal status reading "gimbal disconnected " after uploading the new firmware update v1.9.6. Had to send in the drone to have the main board replaced for $277. My drone was sent in looking new, had it for about 6 months, and then returned with the gimbal looking used with scratch marks on the gold strip. Was changing the gimbal also a process of changing the main board?

I always tack it off. I have done several. The whole thing has to be stripped down.
