As you can see less than $200 FPV Set.

I hope this is what this post was asking for.

How did this setup workout for you? I'm thinking of cloning it. Is it possible to integrate the DJI IOSD MINI into it? Would really appreciate your feedback, particularly on the gimbal, video quality of the FPV and range.

Thank you kindly.

OK I have read through this thread and have some questions, I apologize in advance if any of them seem "dumb" but I am just learning all this stuff and it can be a bit overwhelming at times.
I want to try to gain fpv video capability and also be able to use ground station (full version) or something with equivalent capability. The camera will be the gopro. The 2 options below borrowed from this thread allow me to have the fpv capability and not interfere with the radio that is on a 2.4g frequency, correct? What do I need, or is it possible to have ground station capability with this setup with no interference? And last to add the iosd capability is that part of a ground station solution add on or is that separate also? Can that be done?
I really appreciate the help, as I said I am a bit overwhelmed right now and think I am missing something... :?:
Thank you very much for your input

Ok, here is a setup I put together through trial and error. It has great range now, but I have yet to send it out to its limit. So far 1500 ft away without even a glitch.

For FPV monitors - go with the LIPO & Receiver built in. Cut down on setup and messy wiring. You have AV outputs to record to DVR and AV input for outside sources. If your battery runs low, you can just plug in a LIPO or something like an Anker rechargeable battery like I have.

It's out of stock here, but you may find one on ebay.
Alternative 7" diversity monitor (Black Pearl)

Transmitter - I started with the AVL58 TX and this ImmersionRC blows it's doors off. So frustrating having my FPV quit out after 1000 to 1500ft and flying blind with the AVL58, I switched to this and even with the Boscam monitor/receiver above it works great.

IOSD Mini - this is for all your on screen telelmetry.

TX Antennas - These are also very cool looking and work very well connected to the TX.

RX Atennas - with the Boscam monitor, you have 2 antenna ports, definitely want to upgrade from the stock ants. I bought this.

Here is a simple uide for SMA connectors.

I also got this to add when I want extra long range. One end fits into your Boscam monitor and the other attaches to an RP-SMA Antenna (You can turn it SMA with a converter.

I tried to find all USA Dealers here, but you all can find your own - closest to where you are.

Install walkthroughs - I have followed these and this does work very well.
This guy is awesome on how to set up rigs like this. Yes there is a bit of soldering, but it was well worth it to get nearly flawless FPV at long range.

Hi all, I have been reading this thread and its very helpful with the whole fpv setup so thank you all for that! I am currently using a vision 2+ but me trying to fix the gimbal right now is not worth my time. A broken gimbal right now on ebay is going around for $350ish and I think I can get around $70 for the wifi extender. My plan is to strip the gimbal and wifi extender and replace it with a whole new fpv setup. I already have a go pro hero 3 to use.

I was looking at this setup as referred to earlier:
http://www.banggood.com/Boscam-FPV-5_8G ... 18125.html

I would also need a 7" monitor, a gimbal, cables, and iosd ( is this necessary?). What difference does the mW make and I will not be doing flying around high rise buildings so is a 400mW receiver good enough?

Thank you all

Making decisions on this stuff is confusing.

My suggestion is forget the banggood deal and get the proven and excellent Immersion 600mw Tx and the 7ch Black Pearl monitor with some good circular polarized antennas. The transmitter is very small and light and puts out over 600mw on some channels. Most no name Vtx's don't put out any where near their reported wattage and I put banggood in that category. The other advantage is that the Immersion and monitor can be bought in the US if that is where you live.

Banggood is just a reseller there's no "banggood FPV equipment"... banggood is a perfectly decent place to buy from if you aren't in a hurry and don't mind waiting a few weeks to save some bucks.

I THINK you're trying to discourage Boscam transmitters & their compatible equipment, and I'll agree there's a lot of people in the ImmersionRC/Fatshark camp but the Boscam camp has a lot of fans too. Paired with good antennas, my TS532 and Boscam LCD receiver (Rx-LCD5802) kick *** and can be done for quite a bit cheaper... a TS352 (500mW) can be had for $50 from Banggood or $65 US domestic (amazon, google). On the receiver side I got my Rx-LCD5802 from Banggood for 150 but it looks like the same display is on Goodluckbuy for 90.
So that's a transmitter and receiver for potentially $140, as opposed to $300 for an IRC Tx and Black Pearl. You can use the money you save for peripherals like a sweet 3d printed monitor mount and/or a kickass set of antennas like the FPVLR 3-antenna kit and have a rock solid long range system. I've had mine out to 300m with only the pinwheels and if the wind cooperates this weekend I intend to do some real range testing.

in fairness: one solid advantage the IRC setup has is those pre-made Phantom compatible cables that Firstpersonview sells for both iOSD and non-iOSD setup so you can install the Tx with no soldering but that's yet more $ you have to throw at it. Personally I liked opening the Phantom and soldering a few cables but I'm geeky like that and comfortable with it.

Perhaps I should have spent more time in explaining my recommendations.
In not recommending Banggood it was meant as comment on buying these goods from foreign vendor when they are available in the US. The return ability I thinks far outweighs the lower cost and lengthy shipping times from foreign vendors.
Case in point, I had an issue with my BP monitor from RMRC when it was several months old. They set me a new one and a prepaid RMA to send the old one back when I had time. That was 4 days from initial inquire to new monitor.
The reason I like the Immersion Vtx over the Boscam is the fact that it is much smaller and lighter and uses less than half the power consumption as the Boscam. I have measured the Immersion and it actually puts out over 700mw, while being rated at 600mw. With this setup I have been able to go 1000m using basic CL antennas.

Just trying to help with the experience I have had and equipment that works well for me.

What's the better Phantom 2 to get to update with the FPV..... Start with the plain Phantom 2 ( $679) or the Phantom 2 with Zenmuse H3-3D 3-Axis Gimbal ($959). Both from B&H online store.

Been following this thread and much rather add the FPV and be able to use a GoPro vs going the Phantom 2 Vision +.... Plus this setup seems to be more sturdy than the VISION + camera/gimbal.

Thanks for the help!!!

The P2 with the the H3-3D is by far the best way to go. You will need a gimbal for any video work and the package is about as good as it gets for GoPro photography.
