Yea I take my gimbal off most of the time unless I'm filming. That gives much more flight time and agility or whatever. The condition on descent is called VRS and it's from descending into your own air turbulence

Just wanted to let you know that I have tried 3 different double battery setups and they always made the quad more unstable in windy conditions. It's always windy where I live so it has been a nightmare for me getting things steady. Because of the wind I like to descend while going forward or back. Only using one multistar battery and moving the gimbal a little further back solved the VRS issue mostly. It's still wobbles a little, but I'll take what I have at this point its the best setup so far.
