I've been flying with a somewhat old iPad 2 attached the Lightbridge ground station and I knew I was experiencing significant latency due to the underpowered iPad but I had no idea how much exactly. I'd guessed around 1-2 seconds and planned to update to the latest iPad when the line was refreshed. Today I received that update - the just released iPad Air 2 - and decided to quantify the difference.
iPad 2 (2011) ~ 2800ms (yes thats 2.8 seconds!)
iPad Air 2 (2014) ~ 200ms
Both tests involved a GoPro Hero 4 Silver recording 1080p and ground station set to realtime mode. I used the apple stopwatch function to run the tests which displays two digits after the second so its only accurate to around a hundredth of a second.
