Hey photomikey, any details? What photo editing software, location, any mods to your bird? Did you have to focus on keeping the camera level?
Nice video. btw - no one seems to make may comments on Vimeo... Is it not 'cool' to post comments on Vimeo videos? Seems like all the artistic people hang out on Vimeo.

Photo editing software doesn't matter, but since you asked, FCP6. Shot from the tip of Embarcadero Marina Park North in San Diego.

I personally find flying the quadcopter while shooting video to be like juggling swords while eating a bowl of cereal. Except the quadcopter is flashing red lights at you and you're not sure why, and it may fly away at any moment and never come back. Which is to say that no, I didn't do anything in particular to keep the shots level - I was mostly trying not to kill anyone or dip the helicopter in the drink.

Very few comments on Vimeo. I kinda like the silence as compared to YouTube. ;-)

Took a shot at flying over Six flags Great Adventure in NJ. It was windy! Got my first Jello effect (0:17) while flying sideways and descending. I stayed back from the park so security wouldn't go all crazy trying to find me, so the shots aren't too close. I even drove around to the back of the park for another angle. All in all, not too bad. Took the footage and cut it up with the old six flags commercial music using Windows Live Movie Maker (sucks-gotta get a better editor). Check it out:

Doug86--- great video editing!

Here's a nice edit of our local park. Gotta play with the auto-exposure setting when flying with a low sun... some shots are dark, but overall I like this video

My 2nd test flight, so rainy here all the time, and nothing to fly around but baseball parks attached to small recreational areas. I've ordered a hard case so when that arrives I'm looking forward to driving to an area with more meaningful content to shoot.

Sunny skies can't come soon enough.

After viewing a dozen or so vids I've come to the conclusion that filming over populated areas is absolutely fascinating

Fairly boring 8 min vid. I could have cut it down further, but video editing isn't my strong point. This was my 3rd day of testing. I wanted to shoot something while flying around it in a circle and test to see how difficult it would be to keep the camera centered on the object. Turns out, not that difficult, but this was my first attempt so the object does go left or right of center a few times. I did a warm up flight, set it back down, then started recording and pushed it up a few hundred feet. My friend who is the focus of the video is doing a static check of his powered paraglider sail as it hadn't been out of the bag for a few years. Winds were at about 10-15 mph, which kept his sail up.

I also wanted to check video quality of a lower resolution, so this was shot at 720p. Everything else was set at auto. Next flight I want to play around with ISO and white balance settings, as you can see the camera seems to struggle with a bit of flickering, mostly notable on the low pass over the goal post and back. It was pointed almost directly at the sun.

The mission control audio is of the launch of Gemini 12, circa 1966. Then added internal cockpit recordings of a unknown shuttle launch for the rocket booster sounds. Both found at the NASA audio archives. The music is from free music archives, as I didn't want the hassle of Youtube contentID notices.

My maiden P2V+ flight. Video is 3min 10sec. Chesapeake city park. Nothing special. I superimposed comments about quality, etc.

I am very happy with the stability of the video, especially in gusts up to 17mph. All settings are default out of the box. The youtube settings were H264, 1280 x 720, 29.97 fps. If anyone can tell me how to avoid the horizontal flicker in the dark trees at 1:22, I'd appreciate it.

It was easy to fly. I was nervous, never having flown an RC anything before. I'm very happy with the purchase.

I love looking down and watching people look up trying to figure out what's up there! Come in with the sun at the Phantom's back...lol.

Interestingly, people in the vicinity of where I have flown haven't done more then a quick glance up, then back to what they were doing, as if they were thinking "Another one of those? Seen one, seen them all". I have had ONE person stop and watch for about 5 minutes. Nobody has asked me a question. That is probably a good thing, in the larger scheme of things. The few videos I have posted and linked for friends do result in questions.

I think when that happens, it's a case of a person's subconscious saying "no, I did not just see that", and the conscious mind never knows that there's a quad in the vicinity.

Here's just a short video where I'm flying at home in NC. Until 3 days ago, all the quad flying I'd ever done had been in NJ.

If I want distance when flying from outside my house, I've got to get a lot of altitude because tall trees surround me. I don't much want to try flying very high because I'm in a military flight path and real helis can come out of nowhere at fairly low altitudes.

i have distance! 4100 feet yesterday and then a few hours ago busted out 4967 feet! both vids below

4100ft

I uploaded the complete vid and it is long...but I reach the 4100 and loose fpv at 7.25 and the bird spins and comes home. This is over some really dense forest...I was nervous...

when the bird turns around you really get a sense of how far out this **** thing was....I was at 730 ish feet to get it to go this far...

I also removed the fish eye on the vid also
