I am wondering if Nd filters would prevent lense flare as seen in a couple photos I have taken. I understand I am shooting directly facing the light source.

Try a higher shutter speed/ISO

Unfortunately lens flare is a fact of life when shooting into the sun.

The only way to minimise it is either to get a lens hood or point the camera down so then sun isn't hitting the lens directly. No amount of fiddling with ISO/shutter settings is going to change that.

Adding extra filters *could* also increase the likelihood of flare.

When ever you are shooting videos or stills for best results the sun should be behind you or to either side, never in front of you.
