Landing command and signal disconnection

Anyone tried to send his P4 one way trip to a remote place to be retrieved by another person.
I tried the landing command on my friend backyard
However the drone descended to about 7 feet above him , and took off trying to go home as the connection get disconnected ,
I repeated the trial several times but I got the same
Is there is any way to execute the command to land
Even if the P4 got disconnected .

Here are a few ideas that might work:

• Reset the home point to the Phantom's current location when it's positioned over the desired landing location and initiate RTH
• Set the "Main Controller Settings" --> "Advanced Settings" --> "Remote Controller Signal Lost" setting to "Landing" and turn off the remote controller when the Phantom is over top of the desired landing location

Both of these ideas are a little risky if the landing location is not in a wide open location. From high up in the air, it'll be tough to tell exactly where the Phantom is going to auto land.
