Just don't do this please

That idiot should have the quad busted over his/her head and fined REAL BIG!

Not something I enjoy seeing let alone... DOING!

Two thumbs down.

More ammunition for FAA and regulations. What a tool...

I encourage everyone that sees this thread to go to this guys Youtube post and hammer him. I just did.

"My new Phantom kit will arrive here today. I tell you that so that you will know that I am not anti-drone.

In addition from what others have already mentioned, you could have easily caused one or more of those cattle to break a leg that would have required putting them down.

Where I live, it is legal for me to shoot and kill any dog or other critter harassing my cattle. Certainly not humans, but you can be **** sure that I would have done my best to shoot down your Phantom.

This isn't cute, it isn't funny and it obviously wasn't accidental. Either grow up or get rid of that Phantom."

The cow owner should prosecute under livestock harassment laws. It's not about the quad, this idiot could have done this with his motorcycle, a paraglider, and of course from a horse. You can stampede cows from the ground.

I totally agree the guy is a tool, but it's not because he's flying a Phantom.

I posted the link here as a reminder that cattle and other large animals will be spooked unless you are very high over them.

Most people these days don't have much knowledge of cows and how they react - and could perhaps be forgiven for assuming they won't run "because it won't hurt them".
Anything new and conceivably a threat can provoke a stampede panic (they really happen, not just in movie westerns!)

The guy might take it down if he gets aggressive posts, it would be better if it stayed as an example of how much thought is needed.

Thems lookin like country cows. Round heah, the city cows are don't give a **** about about my weird flyin thingy.

That guy obviously does not understand the huge liability associated with messing with livestock. Running them with an ATV, dog, or quad it's all the same. A cow breaks a leg and you pay for it with $ and your dog can even be put down.

What I posted to his youtube channel.
I am sure he will delete it.

"Rich,
I really hope that you do enjoy flying your quad because if you keep doing this kind of stuff you're going to ruin the hobby for all of us.
The uneducated will see this video and see it as harassment of animals.
That is something that the multi rotor hobbyist Group around the world doesn't need.
Already the national parks in the USA have banned from their parks.
Videos like this do not help.
The only way this video could helped.
If you were demonstrating how are you using this UAV too heard your cattle in a productive manner.
That it would be a different story.
As it stands as it is it looks like you're doing nothing but being antagonistic to the animals.
Believe me I hate PETA just as much as any intelligent person.
But putting up videos like this gives them more ammunition.
You can delete my comment as I'm sure you have deleted a lot of others."

That could have been really nasty, if someone were near them on the ground they could have been trampled - or the group could have crashed through a fence with injuries and much damage.

OT... but how do you embedd youtube videos properly?
I use the youtube button and insert the link, but it doesnt show the video.
Just the code.

When you quoted his post you can see the code he used ;)

Thanks :)

KG4MXV,
Your post is still there and so is mine. Just posted a blast for the idiot.

I think since the cows and the house looked so tiny he thought it was perhaps it could have been an enthusiasts 6ft x 6ft real world mock-up and didn't pick up on the upclose - far away deception that the stupid suffer from, must be the only logical answer.

Believe me stupid knows stupid and the wife calls me that all the time, I must be right.

I'm going to be the devils advocate here and say that this method of rounding up livestock on open range could be (is) very useful. Yes, this guy was probably just harassing them for the fun of it.
Anyone who has rounded up cattle, for example, on open range knows that it is no easy task. Horses have been used for this purpose for centuries. Four wheelers (ATV's) are used extensively for roundup these days but there are places where even they can't go. The RC craft would be useful for flushing that errant cow and calf out of a thicket without injury to the critters or the person.
Rounding up feral hogs is another potential use in areas where they have become a menace.

Mod Edit: Redacted (see above).

umm... do you think you're going a bit too far guys?
Maybe back off a bit. Especially with the address stuff. That is in no way appropriate.
Sure you can find it if you search, but to post it in a forum, just not cool

It can also get us labeled as "insane enthusiasts"
