This is in regards to my previous post one month ago: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=150
I was finally able to take the Phantom out and test it this morning, despite some slight winds here in Las Vegas and WOW! The camera preformed as good as I hoped! The new Sony BOSS (Balanced SteadyShot) system is amazing! I've used the camera in the car while driving, hand-held, and the footage stays stable.
As far as the performance goes on the Phantom, it is a heavier rig. Using the stock battery, I was able to get around 8mins of flight time. I discovered to get the Phantom off the ground, 75% throttle or more is needed to get in the air as opposed to the 50% with a GoPro. Once in the air, flying is no problem.
The following link to the video footage is raw, I have NOT stabilized the video at all in any editing software. The only thing I've done is added music from Vimeo's commercial free music library via Vimeo online. Please note that this is one of my first times flying the Phantom, so my skills and shots aren't that great; with that been said, it does show how great the camera preforms with sudden jerks and turns.
I did place some moon gel underneath the Sony camera to keep it a little more stable on the camera mount I purchased from Infinity Hobby. Here is my setup:
-Balanced Graupner CF 9"x5" Props
-Damping camera mount: http://www.infinity-hobby.com/main/prod ... ts_id=8244
-Moongel
-Sony HDR-CX430v ( http://www.amazon.com/Sony-HDR-CX430V-D ... s=sony+430 )
Vimeo compresses the video greatly and actual video quality from the camera is much better. Finally, the link to the video:
HD Version (no music): https://vimeo.com/62632304
STD Version w/ Music: https://vimeo.com/62640599
