Get a good halogen 12v light bulb and plug it to the battery. best and safest discharge method I know.

idle timeout on the controller? sheesh. that sucks who put that in there? like for the fireworks show the other evening, i put it to altitude, and hovered for 15 minutes, no sticks. id hate to have to move around just to reset a timer.
