I was wondering is it worth getting a ITELITE DBS antenna over a RE700 extender ?

I have a RE500 now and I'm not sure about the boost in range I will get with ITELITE DBS atennas ... could a single RE700 be better compared to the setup I want to make ? (RE500+ITELITE).

Buying RE700 + ITELITE is out of the question since I don't want to spend that much.

So my bottom line question is:

Should I get a RE700 to replace my RE500 or I should get an ITELITE DBS Atenna for my RE500 ?

Thanks !

I'm sure this has been talked over and over again just wanted an updated answer since the range extender had a few updates and I'm using RE500.

IMO you should get the 700 because you want to maximize the fundamental elements of your controller before you start doing other more sophisticated mods.

I just need around 3000 feet range. I wont get it only with RE700 but I might get it with ITELITE DBS + my RE500 ?

I just want to make just one step to improve range and I'm aiming for around 3000 feet (that would be 1000 meters for me).

Futher down the road maybe in a few months I would get a RE700 for the ITELITE DBS antennas.

The mods aren't difficult at all to mount the ITELITE.

I'm not sure if any one of the changes would get you 3000 feet. The stock P2V is less than 1000 feet.

Surely you can afford an extra fifty bucks for a used 700.

Well its more like 100 here but I will look into finding one :) Then with RE700 and ITELITE DBS maybe I get my desired range :)

Thanks.

Hi i have re700 and my max range is about 700 meters then the phantom goes back to home

With RE500 I only get 300 meters thats the reason why I'm trying to upgrade/mod. 700 meters would be just fine for me maybe. I will look into a second hand RE700.

Another question would be will I get maybe 1000 meters with RE500 + ITELITEDBS ?

With re 700 you will get the double, one friend of me they put this antennas and they take 1,200 meters

Bernek I have a Re700 and put just exturnal antenna on it and I'm getting on a good day 5600. On an average day 3000 ft. Besides the Re700 cost the mod may run you $10 and a little time. On the controller side all I've done was a wind surfer on the conrtroller and a cloverleaf in the drone.

What kind of antenna ? directional ? any pics would help :) I was thinking about getting 2xpanel atennas for RE500 and cables. It would be very cheap for me :) for the RC not sure if needs any modding maybe a panel antenna also ? (5.8 GHz for RC and 2x2.4 GHz panel directional antennas for RE500)

How does it sound ?

RE500 - 2 x Antenna WIFI/WLan, 2.4Ghz, 12dBi http://www.traiect.ro/USR_uploads/ProdImgShop/Poze mari/0620023M.jpg

and

RC Control - 1 x Antenna panel WLan, 23dBi, 5.5Ghz http://www.traiect.ro/USR_uploads/ProdImgShop/Poze mari/6-0069M.jpg

Maybe this last one for RC is a little big I could go for only 14-16 dBi gain I think...

Or maybe this one for RE500:

Band [MHz] : 2400-2500

SWR: <1.3
Half power beam H/V [dgr]: 40/40
Front back ratio [dB] : >32
Polarization: vertical/horizontal
Number of elements 1
Impedance [ohm] 50
Dimensions [mm]: 150*100

There was one other thing I did I moved the range extender out from the bar maybe 2 inches. I tried it farther and it did not seem to make a different. I put a wind surfer on the antenna for the range extender also. Yesterday I was out 4400 ft with no problem and it was windy.

bernek You may want to just try putting antenna on your Re500. I know they changed the internal antennas on the Re500 to the Re700. You may just get what your looking for just by doing that. I think with the Cloverleaf on the drone it makes it easier for me to get out to 4400ft before I was getting maybe 3200ft. I'm looking for a range of 1 to 1.5 miles. To fly around with. If I need to go farther I have my P3a. Easily goes 3+ miles

Why do you use omni antenna on range extender ? instead of a directional panel one ? I think the range would be much better and omni antennas signal pattern looks like a DVD so height is problematic and also range. Using a panel would be much better I think ! I will buy 2 x panel directional antennas with 35/35 degrees half beam for 2.4 GHz. They are really cheap :)

For the RC I wont do anything just yet... maybe add a small directional also if range would be problematic. The antennas we need are circular polarized antennas I guess.

I did have a shorter one on the range extender and found this to work a little better. I had both all ready. I was thinking on getting a panel and see if it works any better. With the setup their both pretty matched. If I lost one I lost the other.

Went out this morning it was a little winded. Did my best so far 6019ft. I keep losing my signal at 5900ft and it would turn around to come home and I would get a good signal so I over rode the RTH and flow it backwards to get the 6019ft make. I have the clover leaf on the back and the regular antenna on front.
