is it worth buying a Spectrum TX.

I fly in mode 3 and in order to achieve that I had to open the controller and swap the wires inside and then Rev the motors. Now i have a feeling that this is messing with the Phantom and causing problems with flight cause I'm mixing two channels together.
Would it be worth buying a Spectrum dx 7s which has modes 1 2 3 and 4 programed into it and replacing the 5.8 ghz receiver with the 2.4 ghz that is supplied by Spektrum inside the Phantom? I know the video feed is 2.4 ghz but I've been told that they won't interference with each other so I'm sure I won't have to worry about that.

Not sure who advised you that swapping the control to 2.4 Ghz won't cause interference but they are mistaken. I am not saying it won't work at all, just don't expect much in the way of range.
