Do these same laws apply in Canada? Anyone know if the laws here are similar?

I do disagree with much of the posted information. While the FAA can now consider a done an "aircraft", this only applies to their jurisdiction over it. That was what was being argued at the time. This in no way means the same penalties need to apply to shoot each one down. The article does bring up this point though. Just seems to be a side note. I'd say it's more interesting that someone shooting down a drone could be convicted of a felony committed with a gun... and loose their ability to own a gun because of the action.
