Anyone help me out?
I have a 4th Gen wifi + cell IPad that I want to use with my newly acquired P3S.
Do I need to have a SIM card in to use all GPS functionality.
Sorry if this is a bone question, I'm fairly new to flying.

Cheers

Not a bad question, but a frequent question. No, you don't need a SIM card to use the GPS capability of a cellular enabled iPad.

You would however need one if you chose the option to update maps in the field and couldn't or didn't want to tether to your phone (for internet access) or cache maps via wifi before flying.

No you don't need a SIM card. I use an ipad air2 with Wi-Fi only. I cache the map at home off the area I'll be flying. Then when I fly,I have the map. Look into how to cache maps. The ipad air2 has a built in barometer, so follow me and focus type flight settings work well worth it.
