Is 7 Satellite Lock on Startup Typical?

I recently received my new Vision+ replacement from DJI. I was certainly my last Vision+ routinely got 10 to 12 satellites locked soon after doing the compass dance and starting the motors. The last couple days of flying, I would do the compass dance, wait a minute or so, and achieve only a lock on 7 satellites. Occasionally while flying I would see 8-10 satellites but it appeared to mostly be locked onto only 7. Should I be concerned with only a lock on 7 satellites or is this typical with other people as well?

I get 10-11 and still lost my bird. Not sure what I'd recommend. I'd usually have to wait 5 minutes to get 10.

This is a good tool to see how many sats you can see at different times of day etc. First go to google maps and click on the area where you will be flying, copy the latitude/longitude (or the exact address it gives you if you click on a road) into the tool on the website below. Remember to choose the correct time zone. There are times where I am when I can only see 6 sats, usually about 4-5pm ish.

On my original Phantom, it takes several minutes in my yard and other areas in Ohio to get seven satellites, but when we went to Mexico recently, we got 10 as soon I started it up!

It seems to depend on where you are IMO

This was most helpful! Thanks. I did the calculations and the only times that only 6 satellites were available were at the times I flew today so it was right on the money!
