Living in the UK Channel Islands and new to having a drone this is probably a very basic question. As soon as I leave the island for holidays, due to cost of 'roaming' when in the UK or overseas, data roaming is turned off on my phone and I only use wifi in shops, hotels etc. Should if, for example wish to take the drone on holiday with me - would it still work without roaming and even no wifi. I imagine maps would not be loaded - and assume that GPS would still work. Any reply would be appreciated and thanks.

Just cache your maps when you have wifi access. It will fly without maps and a data connection but it's a lot more difficult to get a feel for where you are heading.

Yes it will work even without your data network on your phone. In case you want to see the maps at the site, you need to cache them before.

I usually fly my bird in airplane mode with phone network and wifi shut off. GOS and cached maps remain available to my iPhone or iPad mini cellular.
