iPad3 for the P3P?

So, I have a P3 inbound sometime soon, and I'm getting set up for its arrival. Right now I have an iPad3 I thought about using for it, or an Android Droid Maxx old phone... I figure the iPad might be too heavy and the phone might be too small, but I don't have anything in between...

Yes, I've read the manual and I've seen the list of recommended devices, and I realize neither of my choices are listed...

So I suppose what I'm asking is:
1) Will the software still work since they are running the same OS, or can I expect bugs? Anyone with experience?
2)Thought's on which one to use? Thought about trying both...

If it's a real issue, I'll just get a mid-size tablet. I'd just rather try mine first, unless there are big issues anyone knows about (ref Question#1)

You won't even be able to install the app on your iPad3. I had an iPad4 and I ended up buying an Air2. Something about the processor speed.

I am using a ipad mini 3 if that helps

iPad is getting repaired currently, should be in well before the P3P arrives, I'll try and install it to check

...Software is on the old phone and looks ok so far
