ipad-'find my p2v-pre cache maps not loading (with internet)

I am using my ipad mini (wifi only) as my monitor - I want to pre-cache my anticipated flight area maps for the Find my Phantom 2 Vision service- however when connected to my home internet wifi (not the p2v's wifi network- safari loads web pages fine) and in the Find my Phantom 2 Vision option, no maps are loading..(the maps do load in the same scenario on my samsung galaxy note 2 android smartphone)- any idea why this is and how I can finally load my maps before I disconnect from my home wifi to connect to the phantom's wifi?
