Recorded this in 1080p and iMovie seems to have compressed my final edit and made some of the shots jerky

    Any suggestions much appreciated

Be sure to save it as the original file coming out of iMovie, also YT probably compresses it some. Try Vimeo and see if you get better results. 1080 shouldn't be a problem.

I save the footage to my photo's on iPad then transferred to my pc. When I played it on my pc it seemed jerky. I then added the soundtrack using movie maker before uploading to YouTube where I seemed to loose some of the resolution

Oh well theres your problem, the iPad has a low res copy... you need to get it from the memory card. Also, most movie editing software will compress it some. Go over the setting to minimize this.

I did my 1st with iMovie this weekend. You have to do it on the computer if you have a Mac. I have a MacMini and saved it as a 1080p after I finished. When saving, save it with best quality for footage. That will help. This helped with those issues
