If you just purchased a brand new Phantom 2 Vision+ V3 READ!

Re: If you just purchased a brand new Phantom 2 Vision+ V3 R

What's the fix??? Some of us (the newbies) are very worried

Re: If you just purchased a brand new Phantom 2 Vision+ V3 R

You have to wonder about the wisdom of dropping $3500 for the initial version of the Inspire. This motor thing for the Phantom, a mature platform, would make me pretty nervous about ending up doing DJI's quality assurance on their new flagship drone model.

The timing couldn't possibly be worse for DJI. Trying to release the Inspire 1, CES imminent, GoPro (and several other mfgrs) breathing down their neck. They have to fix this problem with their flagship consumer drone, and do it fast, or they're going to have a serious market position problem.

Hani and Burlbark think it's a heavier gauge stranded wire from motor to ESC. Nobody knows for sure yet, but their conclusion certainly seems logical. It will be interesting to see what DJI does about this. Personally, I'm going to keep flying. I figure I have a year for my faulty wiring, if that is the problem, to declare itself or for DJI to provide me with a free fix or replacement.

I'm really having a rough time understanding all of this names what do u mean with "IT'S A HEAVIER GAUGE STRANDED WIRE"

I already contacted Dji about this issues and am awaiting
For their comeback on this.

Re: If you just purchased a brand new Phantom 2 Vision+ V3 R

Ur supposed fix is to install a stranded wire?

Re: If you just purchased a brand new Phantom 2 Vision+ V3 R

Why don't you go back to page one and start reading from the top.

Re: If you just purchased a brand new Phantom 2 Vision+ V3 R

Another thing I also just bought my P2 H33D through B&H. Now since I am not in the US right now they are holding my shipment So my question is if I need to try to get the v1.0 instead of the v2.0.

I don't want to crash it since it is a lot O money and I don't live in the US thus It will be difficult for me to send it back for replacement.

Hani

Hani, thank you and Burlbark for taking such an active lead on this.

Re: If you just purchased a brand new Phantom 2 Vision+ V3 R

Hani: just to be clear, do you believe cutting out the wire between the motor and the board and replacing it with a heavier gauge wire should solve this problem, or do you believe the motor board is also the problem?

Re: If you just purchased a brand new Phantom 2 Vision+ V3 R

Wow, this thread scared me enough to open up my P2 H3-3D V2.0 and examine the wires and solder joints. Everything looks good-- no conformal coating peeling, no wire shroud delamination, no burn marks. I've gone just over 20 flights. Knock on wood.

I dont know if Hani and I have come to any conclusion as to the esc's and whether they play a roll in this. It is likely that they could. I will be doing thermography tests with my FLIR unit in the week to come. I have allot going on right now and people need their drones.... :geek:

Re: If you just purchased a brand new Phantom 2 Vision+ V3 R

Wow, must say some people here are quite remarkable, in how they have succeeded in solving a problem that Dr. Turbo (that designs these system for DJI) and has a PHD was not able to solve.
Congratulations.

The lay of the wires may play a very significant role in whether or not this issue develops, or how long it takes.

It's cutting the wire at the base of the motor case
And bringing heavier stranded wire to the esc.
Vibration will cause a solid wire to break in the
Shaking environment like inside the phantom.
2nd issue is overheating and melting the isolation
And shorting out.
With a heavier gauge wire like Dji used to install
On previous versions of phantoms and motors
It wasn't just a heavier gauge wire but also a stranded
Wire which will not break under these circumstances.
We've seen enough evidence already from a lot
Of new v3 phantom owners with the same issue
And not to mention that a major retailer just posted
About selling thousands of v2 phantoms not having this
Issue and within first 100 v3 sold P2s they already had
About 20 complaints about wire isolation melting and esc
Burning out problem.
Eventually I hope Dji will step forward and take the
Responsibility about this.
I already notified them about it so they know about the issue.
Now it's just a matter of time to see if they do anything
To resolve this issue. Because it is an issue.

Dr. Turbo is not the only one with a phd.
He just had C- average at it. Some of us had straight A's

Lol

Re: If you just purchased a brand new Phantom 2 Vision+ V3 R

Does this include all the new versions of the phantom 2 or just the P2+ v3.0?

Hani

Thank you Hani for your data. I'm not excited about having to do this mod but I'll always fly my new V3 with this issue in the back of my mind.

If I do this, do you recommend that I remove each motor and cut the wire at the base? I've never removed a motor and examined the bottom of it.

Just wanting to be clear before I tackle this.

Re: If you just purchased a brand new Phantom 2 Vision+ V3 R

Hani: are you a dealer or repair shop? Just curious.
