I was going to buy a phantom vision +, but wussed out. At least according to the BF
I just purchased a Hubsan X4 to learn on. I figure I could learn how to fly a quad for less than 100 bucks, or less than 1500 bucks.
I think I am smart, but the boyfriend thinks I am a wuss.

So, did I just do something really smart, or did I wuss out?

I was in the same situation. When I looked at the Phantom I decided to buy a Blade nano QX (same category as Hubsan). When I started flying the nano i was amazed by the stability and all but I found the nano pretty boring very fast. Outside it was a no-no: no range, no video, no fun.

The Phantom has been purchased 2 weeks after the nano, just saying. Now the nano is on sale 1 month after it's purchased. But i learned a lot from it.

Although buying a cheaper quad to learn on is not necessary when learning to fly, it will help to build your confidence. Good luck.
