I have a Phantom 2 Vision and would like to extend the range of the remote controller. If you have done this before please share some advice. I'm willing to purchase a different controller if necessary.

A different control gets to be a pretty pricey proposition, because you also have to buy two new receivers since you'll have to switch the TX to 2.4GHz and the VX to 5.8.
But there are plenty of folks here that have done it just with a variety of different antennae. Just look around, you'll find many threads here about various projects.

I am okay with the FPV as I am using the range extender intended for the P2V plus (RE700). This actually works better than the third-party range extender that I tried (Amped SR10000). So FPV isn't a problem... yet.
