Has anyone ever checked to see how far out the original P3 lights can be seen at night?

Over water with no other lights maybe close to a mile but only if I watch it from the start. If I looked away I would have trouble finding it few hundred feet away.

I have put a 3W green LED strobe on mine. Green on the rear red on the front. I can see it about two miles.

At dusk over the ocean and watching it from the start, I lost sight of it at about 3 km (2 mi.).
