home lock

ok so ive been flying for almost a year no issues in my 1.1.1
I was bought a p3p for a gift and wanted to give my old one to my son. I needed to add home lock so if it goes too far he can pull rt lever towards him and the drone comes back to him.
I plugged into nizam and turned on remote and power to bird, and activated home lock. When we flew it didn't orient to home. it showed it activated.
my ? is do I need to keep everything turned on after I activate the lock or can I power off and it will keep the setting...I thought home lock corresponds to the transmitters location.
am I doing something wrong?

Once IOC is selected in Naza assistant it will remain when the system is powered down.
Obviously HL needs to be selected on the left hand transmitter switch. The home lock relates to the recorded home position when launched, not the transmitter.
HL will not work if the craft is less than (approx.) 30 ft. away.
