history question - when was the first quadcopter produced?

    When I try to search this subject, I get all kinds of hits not related to the question.
    I know that the UAV concept has been around since the 80's or so. Those that I have seen were generally one or two rotor things.
    And even before that, there was the Hiller platform that used two rotors.
    I always said that a good fleet of Hiller platforms would have worked quite weill in "desert storm".

    Anyone have any photos of early quads?
