Has anyone that's bought a P3P from B&H also bought their "Square Trade" protection plan?

Before I pull the trigger on a P3P from B&H, I wanted to know if anyone's bought their "Square Trade" protection plan, and ever had to use it. $200.00 for 2 years for "Drops & Spills". Sounds almost too good to be true, but I figure if it didn't apply to multirotors, they'd have a disclaimer somewhere. Any thoughts and opinions would be welcome.

If you don't mind my asking, were you under the impression that this warranty would cover you, no questions asked, if, God forbid, your Phantom got its brains scrambled and crashed?

This has been discussed many, any times. Unless SQ has changed their policy in the past couple of months. They don't warranty Phantoms. Their warranty sometimes gets added by companies as the Phantom has a camera. If you bought the warranty I'd email SQ and obtain a confirmation in writing.

I did get such confirmation and they were crystal clear on multiple calls that it covers the Phantom.

Same here,we're (supposedly) covered. As with any insurance ,we can just hope for the best.
On that note,,,, Past dealing with S/T have been GREAT.

I don't get it. I use ST for multiple items. I called and they told me no flying cameras, the Phantom was not something they cover. What gives? Is it a special arrangement with B&H?

Yep, they have a relationship with B&H, which is why they allow it. From other sites, ST did not offer coverage.

I confirmed with SQ corporate.
They do have a special relationship with B&H.
It's a great deal.

I spoke to square a few days ago and they informed me that they ONLY cover phantoms purchased at BH. Who did you ask?

I'm gonna throw my 2 cents in here. I bought a Phantom 3 Pro at the end of September. I also bought the Squaretrade 3 Year ADH plan that came up as an option. After having it 3 weeks, I had a mishap with a tree that broke the camera. I submitted to ST on 10/21 and the claim was approved and they received the unit on 10/23. They stated the unit would be repaired. I received an email last Friday that said they could not repair it and would be sending a check for 1106.28. Today I received the email (below) which basically says the warranty I purchased was invalid.

I will be reporting them and amazon to the BBB if this is not resolved because had I not thought I had coverage through ST, I would have bought coverage elsewhere (example Neary Aerial Media - Uav Extended Warranty, Multirotor/quadcopter Extended Warranty, Electronic Components)

Does anyone have any thoughts on how I should approach this to get a positive outcome?

Thanks

Hello Brian,

Thank you for contacting SquareTrade.

This email is to inform, your claim was closed due to being an invalid warranty (Any and all warranties for quadcopters/drones with Accidental damage from handling (ADH) can only be applied to B&H warranties and B&H purchases. There is no classification for quadcopters through any other channel and are not covered for Accidental damage from handling (ADH) in any other resellers).

We have informed the depot to ship the quadcopter back to you un-repaired. As the next step we can have this warranty cancelled for you and provide you with a full refund.

If you have any more questions, please feel free to reply to this email. Otherwise you can also visit squaretrade.com/help.

Thank you,

Jeremy

Your home state may have remedies in cases like this. It looks like they're refunding you the cost of the warranty. If this is the case, then you can either pursue this further, or take the check and go buy a new P3. Just my two cents worth. I bought the one year version of the warranty. So far, haven't had to use it (but then again, I bought my P3 in August, then went on to break my foot and have been grounded since August 14th-only two flights on my P3 so far). Good luck!
