GoPro surf hero first gen.

I recently bought a DJI phantom 1. I'm new to the hobby and I'd really like to know some about this aircraft. I got it with a GoPro the first gen and I wanted to know if I could use a fpv kit with it. And some other tips and tricks.

Yes, it will work just fine, you just need the proper plug and wire it up to your 'copter and vTx (video transmitter) properly. I still use a GoPro "v1" clone on my race quad FPV system....
