GoPro for FPV

Some people suggest a separate camera for FPV. I heard that the signal is unreliable, What is your opinion or experience? I really do not want to spend money to install another camera and more weight to the Phantom.

Gopro works great as an FPV camera.
it allows you to see the exact picture you're getting, plus ensures that you never forget to hit the record button on the GoPro.

it can be a bit funky getting used to flying with the super wide angle, as well as flying with a stabilized camera if it's on a gimbal.
but I find it much more preferable.
