Good buy?

yeah I guessed this! Looks a little exposed otherwise!
Do you think there is anything to be said for an internal transmitter install?

Then you'd have to cut a hole in the shell of the Phantom for the antenna. I think I saw a YouTube video with someone doing that, but I'm good with not drilling a hole in my shell...

Installing the transmitter inside the shell has been done but not advisable.

Reason you have a hard time information on FPV equipment because everyone has their own opinion that their setup is better then everyone else's. You can see what equipment I am using but I will not tell you that is what you need.or have to have or that it is better another brand. There's nothing wrong with immersion, boscam or flysight equipment as they are all good brands. What is important is how much of a budget you have and who has the better deal. With that said get what you want not what others think is better then another brand.

If you going for 250mw or 600mw I'd fit it outside so it will be cooled by the air passing. These get quite hot and although the newer design run a bit cooler some still come fitted with a fan due to the heat that build up
