Having broken the ribbon on the roll motor in need of a new one can't seem to find one for the phantom 3 standard online any help on this much appreciated

Try contacting F/Stop Labs. If they don't have them, they might know where you can purchase one.

The OP is looking for the roll motor cable.

Cheers for the replies guys the cheaper option is buying a pitch motor and cutting the shaft down has anybody tried this and does it work

My recommendation was not from personal experience, but rather from reading here last year. Another user posted that other than shaft length, there was no difference between roll and pitch motors, and that he/she had simply cut the shaft using a Dremel cut-off wheel.
I would recommend though that using the Dremel cut-off wheel can created a lot of heat so do it little bits at a time, allowing time for the shaft to cool, and probably lock a good heating to the end of the shaft being removed to help absorb some of the heat.
