so i'm selling my vision plus and getting a P2 with H3-3D tomorrow, If I also get the datalink, and BTU, does that act the same way as the FPV/Telem in the vision plus app?

It'll give you the ability to create and fly waypoint missions (and see telemetry) but it doesn't do FPV (video feed).
