Hey guys,

Brand new here...so please forgive if I'm posting this in the wrong area. I have decided to do away with my DJI transmitter and replace it with a Futaba. I was looking at the T8J, but my thoughts are that if I'm going to spring for a new transmitter, I might as well get one with at least 10 or more channels. Any budget-conscious recommendations? Thank you!

Regards,

Donnie Frank

I'd suggest the 8FGS. You could use the ianwood profile and you're golden. viewtopic.php?f=19&t=8358

There are posts saying the 8FGS will be discontinued, so maybe you could get one at a pretty good price. I'm sure there are better, but for the price and simplicity of set up (see above link), it's a good way to go. I'm using the latest version (v4) and I still have switches that I could add functions (if i was so inclined).

Thank you very much for your recommendation. An eBay search for "T8FGS" turned up very little ("related" searches). However I DID find a used T8FG. I know that this radio will work, but I'm more concerned with "user reviews" from people (like yourself) who actually fly. Have you heard anything about this unit regarding reliability? I will more than likely use it with a DragonLink system, so the fact that it is missing a receiver is not important.

Thanx a TON for your help.

I just did a search and it looks like the prices went up a little bit form when i bought mine. To my knowledge, the used one on Ebay is the same.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Futaba-8FG-SUPE ... 4d1d3c67c6, if you haven't yet, this one is worth bidding on...http://www.ebay.com/itm/Futaba-8fg-Supe ... 2ed1e2bdff

I think T8FGS and T8FG are labels to describe the same transmitter. I got mine w/o the receiver and use the stock receiver w/o problems. The Dragonlink system is very, very (did I say very?) nice. Only reason I haven't delved that far is I'll be tempted to push my Phantom farther than my skill level would allow!

Wish I would have grabbed one or two . I have been looking but if you do find a new one the price is about the same as the 14SG now . Most your going to find are used

T8FG originally was just 8 channels, but with the software upgrade to the T8FGS makes it 14 channels, making them the same except for the labels.

Thanx for your advice. That auction ended but there is one behind it. I did some research on this transmitter and it definitely looks like the one for me. Thanx!

Looking at a T14SGH. Not sure what the "H" stands for. Any ideas?
