Function button on gimbal/camera

There is an LED light which is explained in manual & a USB port.

Thats it.

I had thought to connect this button to a servo or electronic switch and then wire it to one of the spare F channels on the Naza so that the full ground station could trigger the camera for photogrammetry at specific locations. The camera generally takes better still than video.
 
What do you see as the advantage over the still button o the software ?

I'm referring to the full ground station with the datalink hardware. I has a special mode to take pictures at specific locations in a waypoint flight. This mode controls F channels and doesn't trigger the current P2V+ camera by default. However, if there was a servo or servo switch for the camera button then this would work as is, I think.
